Long Ridge Open Space Preserve sits atop Skyline Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, providing a beautiful backdrop for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The preserve has ten different trails, providing options for short hikes, rides to scenic overlooks, or long loop trips. The Bay Area Ridge Trail cuts through the park, connecting multiple parks (including Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve and Sanborn County Park) along one of the longest continuous stretches of the trail. For an amazing view of the Santa Cruz Mountain Range and distant ocean views head out to Wallace Stegner Bench. Hikers looking for a longer journey, and backpackers heading from the city to the ocean, can connect to Portola Redwoods State Park via the Ward Truck Trail.
