Description

A unique slice of the Santa Cruz Mountains lies within the borders of Sam McDonald County Park near La Honda. The 850 acre park has two separate natural environments, a lush redwood forest well shaded for exploration, and primarily open ridge with grassy knolls and brush offering beautiful views of Butano and Skyline Ridges as well as the Pacific Ocean. The park also features the Jack Brook Horsecamp for equestrian camping, and the Hikers Hut offered by reservation through the Sierra Club. Visitors can also access Pescadero Creek County Park via the West Brook Trail, East Brook Trail, or Towne Fire Road.
