Part of Santa Teresa County Park, the Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch Historic Area provides visitors with a glimpse as to what ranch living was like in the Santa Clara Valley more than 100 years ago. Interpretive signs provide information about the Bernal family's history and lifestyle, as well as the transition from cattle ranch to prosperous fruit and agricultural farm. A short walk from the ranch area leads to the natural Santa Teresa Spring, which folklore believes comes from the Sierra Nevada Mountains via underground rivers, and pond where ducks and turtles can be seen basking in the sun. The ranch grounds are open for exploration every day from 8:00am to sunset, and the Ranch House and barns are open for viewing Fridays from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Saturdays from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Trails lead from the historic ranch area to the rest of Santa Teresa County Park via the Joice Trail. Free parking is available at the ranch area or along Manila Drive.
