Castle Rock State Park covers more than 5,200 acres of lush forest with intriguing sandstone rock formations and expansive views around almost every corner. Sitting at the highest point in the Santa Cruz Mountains, this California State Park straddles the boundary between the San Francisco and Monterey Bay regions. This rugged and wild park offers visitors over 34 miles of trails for hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding and connections to many other parks' trail systems, including the popular Skyline to the Sea Trail which starts at Castle Rock State Park and ends at the Pacific Ocean in Big Basin State Park. Rock climbers will enjoy exploring the many sandstone rock formations and caverns, including the park's namesake Castle Rock.
