    The San Jose Heritage Rose Garden covers 4 acres and has more than 3,600 plants representing 2,600 varieties of roses. The garden is a heritage garden, designed to save varieties of roses from extinction, and all the roses have been selected for their beauty, rarity, and importance to the history of rose hybridizing. Near the southwest corner of the garden is a shaded picnic area with a barbecue pit and picnic tables.
