    Description

Union Square is surrounded by world-class shopping, as almost every big name retailer in the world has set up shop around the famous plaza in the heart of San Francisco's hotel and shopping district. The large granite plaza was designed to be the heartbeat of San Francisco back in the gold rush era of the mid 1800's and was designed with grand entrance plazas lined with signature palm trees at the four corners  of the square. Today Union Square features a stage, lawn seating, a cafe with outdoor seating, and a destination for civic celebrations. Parking is available directly under Union Square with an entrance on Geary Street.
