San Gregorio State Beach is a mile long, wide sandy beach at the mouth of San Gregorio Creek and features a driftwood-strewn estuary as part of the park. The beach served as a campsite for the Portolá Expedition campsite in October 1769. To the south, beachgoers can walk to Pomponio State Beach and to the north is Tunitas Creek Beach.
