Point Pinos Lighthouse in Pacific Grove, Calfifornia is the oldest existing lighthouse on the west coast and has been guiding ships navigating the Monterey peninsula since 1855. Visitors to the lighthouse can see the inside where the lighthouse keeper lived, learn about the revolutionary invention of the Fresnel lense, and view history of shipwrecks around the Monterey peninsula. Although entrance to Point Pinos lighthouse is free, donations are greatly appreciated to help fund the preservation of this important historical site.
