Completed in 1999, the Old Faithful Snow Lodge is the newest of the park’s full service hotels, and has been recognized with the Cody Award for Western Design and Travel and Leisure’s Inn of the Month. The heavy timber construction, exterior log columns and cedar shingle roof were part of the design that is destined to make the Snow Lodge a significant example of classic “parkitecture.” The Snow Lodge also features a full-service dining room, quick service “Geyser Grill” and the charming Bear Den Gift Store.
In winter, Old Faithful Snow Lodge offers a truly unique experience. Because of its location within the park’s interior, the Snow Lodge, as well as the Old Faithful area, are only accessible by commercially operated oversnow vehicles (snowcoaches). From this snowy haven elevated at approximately 7,300 feet, you can set out on a variety of explorations, either on your own or with one of our knowledgeable guides.
Take one of many different snowcoach tours – like one to the Canyon area, where you will find the famous, frozen Lower Falls. But don’t overlook what’s out the front door….the Upper Geyser Basin can be magical when winter’s colder temperatures mix with the steamy hot springs and geysers. Rent some skis or snowshoes, and explore any number of trails, of all different ability levels – with a guide, or without. Enjoy the fire as you sip a hot beverage in our lounge, while the snow falls lazily outside. No matter what you choose, you will never forget your winter visit to the Old Faithful Snow Lodge.
