One of the most popular campgrounds in Yellowstone National Park due to its central location and long season, Madison Campground sits about 14 miles east from the town of West Yellowstone and 16 miles north of Old Faithful. The campground is set in a partly wooded area along the Madison River, known for its great fishing, and is a convenient location for visiting Old Faithful and the Upper, Midway and Lower Geyser Basins. In spring and early summer, nearby meadows teem with wildflowers and grazing bison. In September and early October, you can often hear the bugling of bull elk. Although Madison Campground does not offer some amenities offered by other campgrounds in the park, laundry and showers are available at Old Faithful Inn (16 miles away) and at West Yellowstone (14 miles away). Group campsites, hike-in and bike-in campsites, as well as ADA accessible campsites are available.
