Lake George Campground is situated in lodgepole pine forest on the shore of Lake George near Mammoth Lakes in California's eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The campground offers 15 campsites for tent and RV camping, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Some campsites have views of the breathtaking scenery surrounding the campground, including Lake George and some of the 9,000 and 10,000-foot peaks in the John Muir Wilderness.
Lake George Campground is a great base camp for hiking trails in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Many hikers enjoy the path to the Upper Lakes Basin, where Crystal, Barrett and TJ Lakes are found. Although swimming in Lake George is not allowed, it is a popular fishing, canoeing and kayaking destination.
