Angel Island is the largest island in the San Francisco Bay and has a history as unique as the island itself, including a Native American hunting ground, supply stop for Spanish explorers, U.S. Immigration Station, temporary internment processing station during World War II, cattle ranch, military base and missile station, and lastly a California State Park. Visitor's today will enjoy hiking, mountain biking, camping, and more on the island. There are also beaches for swimming and snorkeling or scuba diving, picnic tables and BBQ pits, museums, and wildlife viewing. Access to Angel Island State Park is available by private boat or public ferries leaving San Francisco and Tiburon.
